Antigonish, N.S. – On Monday, February 13, the Municipality of the County of Antigonish appeared in Nova Scotia Supreme Court to have a hearing time, date and location set for an action filed on behalf of three Antigonish County residents.
The applicants are applying to the court for an order, pursuant to Section 189 of the Municipal Government Act, quashing the resolution adopted by County Council on October 20, 2022, which requests the Province of Nova Scotia enact special legislation consolidating the Municipality and the Town of Antigonish.
The hearing has been set for July 7, 2023 in Antigonish.
County Council remains confident in its decision to request consolidation with the Town of Antigonish and looks forward to working with the Town to move this process forward.
